Kindergarten and New Student Registration Information & Forms

It is important to us that we know your child is planning to attend Laurel Ridge for the 2025-2026 year. If you have not yet registered your child, we ask that you begin that process as soon as possible as our staffing allocations depend on student numbers. To join us, first determine if your student lives in the Laurel Ridge Elementary School boundary by viewing the FCPS Boundary Locator. If your student does live in our boundary, please contact our Student Information Assistant, Susan Kane, at sikane@fcps.edu to assist you with the registration process and have your child’s name added to the list.

KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION: An orientation for rising kindergarteners and their parents/guardians will be held on Tuesday, April 1. Call the Laurel Ridge main office at 703-426-3700 for more details.  

Note: New kindergarten and first grade Spanish immersion students must enroll at their base school. Visit the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Program Registration page for additional information.

Kindergarten Orientation April 1, 2025

Welcome New Laurel Ridge Lions!

We are excited to welcome our 2025 rising Kindergarten families to our Kindergarten Orientation on Tuesday, April 1, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. 

Rising Kindergarten Students and their parents/guardians can come up to the front door to get started.

9:00 am - 9:30 am  Open House & Check In - Kindergarten Classrooms Students and parents will check in at the tables in the lobby.  Once you are checked in, you may tour the kindergarten classrooms with your child until 9:30 am. 

9:30 am - 10:15 am   Bus Ride & Parent Information Session - Cafeteria
At 9:30 am, please make your way to the cafeteria.  Students will join our kindergarten teachers on a bus ride while parents will remain in the cafeteria for our Kindergarten Information session.

10:15 am - 10:30 am   Parents & Students Reunite - Playground
After the bus ride and parent information session, parents will reunite with their child on the playground. Our PTA will also be available with spirit wear if you would like to purchase any. Our orientation concludes at this point.

Kindergarten student screenings are held over the summer and a sign up genius to request a specific time will be available when details are finalized. 

The purpose of the screenings is to give teachers an opportunity to get to know incoming kindergarten students and to screen them in letters and numbers. This information helps make balanced classes and will aid teachers when planning lessons during the school year. Screenings will only take about 5 minutes. Arrive at Door #1. Unfortunately, there will not be any make-up dates for student screenings.

The LRES PTA will also offer school supply kits for sale through Sprout School Supplies! Skip the stores by purchasing your kit online. We'll deliver the school supplies directly to your child's classroom before the start of school. Details coming soon. School supply kit orders will open on Monday, April 21st.
